Project Details

A Solar PV system is a type of renewable energy (RE) technology system that converts sunlight directly into electricity. The technology come is solar PV cells that are connected in series to form a working module. The electricity from solar PV is fed into the power conversion such as inverters to convert in electricity.

One way of categorising solar PV system is by differentiating if they are connected to national utility grid which is TNB as per ST and SEDA guidelines such as:-

  • Grid-connected photovoltaic (GCPV) – connect direct to national utility grid.
  • Off-grid photovoltaic (OGPV) – not connected to national utility grid but as a standalone microgrid.

In operational terms, Worldwide using present technology looking into a few types of solar PV system installations that can be defined as

  • Free  standing – ground mounted (parking) or rooftop installations
  • Retrofitted structures
  • Building integrated or BIPV

This is due to WHB have a target to make Selangor state a green state by implementation low carbon technology using solar PV system and future using hybrid energy storage to reduce the dependency of carbon emission generated by national utility grid where sources if from fossil fuel. This can be done using current mechanism such as:

  • Net Energy Metering (NEM),
  • Large Scale Solar (LSS) and
  • Self-Consumption (SELCO

Under greenfield type of projects and Feed-In Tariff (FiT) under brownfield type of projects through Merging and Acquisition for the years
